…updated the blog a long time ago. Have lots of stories an pictures to share from the christmas and the last couple of weeks. Will try to prioritize some updates soon.

Where are the veggies?

First swedish “Julbord” has now been eaten… had christmas party at work yesterday.
I was not impressed by the food though… and I have another one of these dinners upcoming next Thursday.

I managed to find some “clean” protein (salmon and egghalves that I removed the mayo from). Added 2 potatoes as well… but vegetables were not present at all.

Tonight my plan is to prepare a really nice dinner for Johan at home. Can not tell the menu yet though, in case he reads my blog during the day :-) Will post some pics later.

When it comes to training Idid quads Monday and today is the first day they are starting to feel recovered again. They have been really sore for a couple of days. Arms, abs and shoulders has been trained as well so far this week. Time for hams or back today (and maybe some calves).

Swedish Christmas Traditions

Christmas is alot about food… and in Sweden “Julbord” is a tradition. Almost all restaurants are offering buffés with all the typical Swedísh food that is served during christmas. I’ve never been to one of these (even though I have lived in Sweden since 2001).

The 17th of Dec we’re a whole group of people that will go to ”Julbord” together. Looking forward to the social part but looking at the list of food I realized this will not be an evening where I’ll find new favourites.

Of all the things served, the 7 things I’ll probably eat is marked in bold italic style. Is it because I am norwegian? Or is it because I am kind of picky with food and the things I eat?

No Post-Contest Cravings

It is strange, but this time I do not have any post-contest cravings. I ate alot of bars and some bread after the competition but now I only want my regular food. Oatmeal, chicken, nuts, bulgur, vegetables, protein powders etc.

Directly after a competition is probably the only time per year I eat candy. This year the candy tasted kind of boring… only had a few pieces. I ate some protein bars though – that is a favourite after competition treat. I usually eat at least one per day for weeks after… but this time the cravings are not there.

I have about 1,5 kg candy at home that I’ll have to donate to someone else otherwise it will get old, this year candy was not my thing.

I did eat some food as well. 

3 pieces of bread (Fazer Frökusar)

6 Slices of Västan 5% Cheese (my favourite!)

150 g canned turkey (on the bread)

In the evening me and Johan went to a restaurant. I had chicken and lots of veggies, but couldn’t finish the plate since I’d eaten so much before.

Sunday I started the day with my regular oatmeal and protein powder – tasted delicious, love my normal food! Added an egg and a cup of tea from the hotels breakfast buffé. For lunch I had the rest of the bread with some 5% cheese and turkey. I also had one Muscle Milk Bar (since it was the favourite). Other than that I ate just what I usually eat, and I didn’t feel like having anything else either. Was at a food store and looked through their ice cream choices but the only thing I felt like eating and ended up with was 100g of chicken…

Today has been a regular day. No cravings, just more of the same food I eat on diet, after all that is what I REALLY like!

Ate half the plate at the restaurant (woked chicken and veggies) and my stomach got too full (add to that 5 protein bars, 4 pieces of bread with 5% cheese and turkey and some pieces of candy that I had before dinner and u might understand why;-))

I had so much fun!

I really enjoyed Fitnessfestivalen. I had so much fun – both at the competition and during the rest of the weekend.

I was definately in my best condition ever, and knowing that I had improved since last year was my goal. I ended up at place 13 and I know what I have to improve to climb on that result list – if that is the goal, at the moment it is not though. I do this because I think it is fun, because I am competing against myself. It might sound strange but I do not really feel like striving for the top, I feel like competing in Bodyfitness because I think it is fun. It adds some extra spice to my training since I have a solid goal to work towards. Who knows, maybe I will change my mind about this in the future.

Getting shredded is not a problem for me, I do not have any problems getting rid of bodyfat, too shredded with too little muscle under does not look healthy though and I guess that is something I need to improve. Either to not get to shredded for a competition - or to put on some more mass - or both combined.

Gothenburgh

We arrived around 5 pm yesterday. Started our trip pretty early from Stockholm but we made some stops along the way. Johan got to visit his favourite – Ginza, and bought some CDs that were missing in his collection.

I realized I had forgotten a couple of small things so we also stopped at a shopping mall close to Gothenburgh. Shopping malls takes time though, we ended up with some new clothes in addition to the asseccories I’d forgotten:-)

Arriving our hotel it was time to unpack. I always have so many things with me when it is competition, but thinking about it I could not remove anything either. For example the ProTan color makes it necessarry to bring own towels and bed sheets.

After the first layer of color yesterday we just watched some TV and relaxed before going to bed. Was thinking about going out for a short walk but I was too cold from the color. And at this time of year Gothenburgh is always cold and windy.

Don’t know how many times I’ve been awake during the night. Don’t know if it is nerves, all the carbs I am eating or the sticky feeling of having this layer of color all over my body. Still getting dryer, still need to get more carbs into my small muscles…

It is only 5am. I am used to waking up this time, but now we’re just in a little hotel room and I don’t have much to do besides surfing and blogging (Johan is sleeping). So I’ll try to get another hour of beauty sleep.

In the middle of the night…

I woke up at 3 am feeling completely empty (food empty). Before that I’d been up to visit the toilet several times. I tried to fall back asleep but I couldn’t so I got up for a little while. Took a look in the mirror and concluded that something had happened since yesterday. I really need to fill up with carbs before saturday.

 Todays food is following the plan I set up. It is like yesterdays, except I am exchanging more protein towards carbs and also exchanging some of the bulgur and chicken to oats and whey protein.

Just had a portion of oatmeal and whey and got tired again. Going back to bed for an hour or two and when me and Johan wake up again it is time to pack the last things and take our car to Gothenburgh. Looking forward to it!

 

Yesterdays Food

Getting rid of the salt was wonderful. Chicken and bulgur on the meny the whole day and a little paprika powder to put some taste on the chicken.
