Destiny, what is that? When good things happen we tend to refer to it as “it was meant to be” and “it’s destiny” while on the other hand, if things are challenging, destiny becomes something negative. Something you can blame for the bad things happening in your life. “It wasn’t me – it was Destiny!”.
I don’t believe in destiny. Or that’s actually a half truth – I believe there’s something. Something we can’t control that connects the dots and in the end ensures life builds up to a meaningful pattern. At moments certain things just feel right (or wrong), and those are moments when I’d refer to “meant to be”. When it feels right it’s easy… it’s a flow and you somehow get enlightened while you are made aware of occasions from the past – good or bad – that suddenly adds up to something meaningful and the next steps in your life become very obvious.
At one of these moments in my life I got introduced to the word Synchronicity: “A term coined by Carl Jung to denote meaningful coincidence. Events bound by synchronicity are connected by similarity, by meaning, by resonance, rather than by causality. Synchronicity is an acausal connecting principle. Since it goes beyond causation, it goes beyond time and space, and is not limited by such relations.”
It all makes sense, it all connects. Do I understand it? Not at all… but I accept it and I am grateful to the fact that moments of synchronicity occur. I also owe thanks to a person who appeared in my life when I needed it the most.
“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances; if there is any reaction, both are transformed.” C. G. Jung
I’m not spending more time of my life analyzing why certain things happened. Instead I’ll enjoy the moments that are brought to me. Make sure I pass on my happiness to people surrounding me. And I’ll never question the meaning of life – because if I do I’ll someday be dying without having lived.
“The intellect has little to do on the road to discovery. There comes a leap in consciousness, call it Intuition or what you will, the solution comes to you and you don’t know how or why.” Albert Einstein
